Spotlight: Cabinets & NEMA Rated Enclosures by RHINO
Rhino Mfg. prototypes and fabricates a multitude of electrical enclosures that satisfy the criteria specified by the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA). We can build most of these boxes in a variety of sizes from multiple types of material in an assortment of finishes.
- NEMA 1 enclosures are typically used for protecting controls and terminations from objects and personnel. NEMA 1 enclosures are applicable when sealing out dust, oil, and water is not required.
- NEMA 3R enclosures are typically used in outdoor applications for housing electrical panels or as junction boxes. Rhino Mfg.’s NEMA 3R enclosures protect against falling rain, sleet, snow and external ice formation and typically have gasketed openings.
- NEMA 4 enclosures are used in applications where an occasional washdown occurs. Rhino Mfg.’s NEMA 4 enclosures have doors which have both compression clamps and gasket for water-tight seals.
- NEMA 4X enclosures have the same features as a NEMA 4—compression clamping and gasketed doors—and in addition are made of stainless steel for resistance to corrosion. Rhino Mfg.’s NEMA 4X enclosures are popular where total washdown and/or chemical cleaning occurs often as well as outdoor junction boxes.
- NEMA 12 enclosures are designed to keep out dust, water, and oil. Rhino Mfg.’s NEMA 12 enclosures are normally used for indoor applications for electronic control systems and are not corrosion resistant.

Punching - The starting point for nearly all sheet metal fabrication items is blanking; at Rhino Mfg. blanking is done on punch press machines. Rhino Mfg.’s two CNC turret punches plow through production with extreme speed and accuracy. These machines are capable of holding tolerances of better than 0.005” and can punch parts using over 50 different shaped tools at a time.
Wherever possible Rhino Mfg. utilizes a standard load of turret tools to eliminate wasteful setup time.
Forming - Most sheet metal parts are not simple, flat shapes. Once a part has been blanked Rhino Mfg. uses our four CNC press brakes to form complicated three dimensional shapes and features with bends up to 12 feet long. Speed, accuracy and repeatability are the key to forming; Rhino Mfg.’s brakes regularly hold better than 0.005” tolerances and keep angles within +/- ½ degree of nominal. Hydraulic clamping rams and quick change tooling help Rhino Mfg. to change tools and setup machines in a fraction of the time required by other companies.
Welding - Truly Rhino Mfg.’s specialty! Need your welds to be structurally sound and still look great? No problem! Mild steel, stainless steel, coated steel, aluminum; Rhino Mfg. welds it all.
Welding Capabilities
Capable of MIG, TIG, spot-welding, seam-welding, and even robotic welding our welders are fast and effective while maintaining excellent quality.
Machining - Rhino Mfg.’s 3 axis CNC machines round out our metal working capabilities. Our in house prototyping and programming allows for rapid realization of product from a solid model or CAD drawing. We machine all types of metal, creating features as simple as tapped holes and countersinks to complex features and 4 axis surfaces.
Assembly - Whether your parts get press hardware, rivets or nuts and bolts Rhino Mfg.’s assembly department has the equipment and skill to perform the assembly.
Additionally our electrical assembly department builds industrial panels and wires together breakers, contactors, relays, switches and more under our UL 508 certification.
